How to Measure an Angle on a Photo
A quick workflow for camera photos, screenshots, and diagrams: align first, then measure with snap and guides.
1
Add the image
2
Align the background
3
Place the protractor center
When this helps
Use this when you have a photo or screenshot and want a clean angle reading you can share or export. If the photo is tilted or blurry, take 30 seconds to align it first.
Step-by-step
- 1Add the imageUpload, drag & drop, or paste your photo/diagram to the canvas.
- 2Align the backgroundRotate/flip, adjust brightness/contrast, and use the grid to line up a clear edge or axis.
- 3Place the protractor centerMove the center to the vertex (the corner point where the two sides meet).
- 4Use snap and guidesTurn on snap (common or step) to land on clean angles. Use guides if you need a stable baseline direction.
- 5Export what you needSave a PNG/PDF for sharing, or export measurement data for spreadsheets.
Common mistakes
- Measuring before aligning: a tilted photo is the #1 source of “wrong” readings.
- Using 180° mode for a reflex angle: switch to 360° when the angle is over 180°.
- Placing the center slightly off the vertex: zoom in and re-check the exact corner.
