Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to common angle-measurement questions
1How accurate is Smart Protractor?
The readout shows up to 0.01°, but real accuracy depends on alignment, perspective, and edge clarity. Use the grid and snap, and prefer straight-on photos.
2How do I align / calibrate before measuring?
Rotate/scale the background so a known straight edge matches the grid. Then place points on sharp edges and zoom in for fine placement.
3What is Snap, and when should I use it?
Snap rounds rotation and point angles to common values or a fixed step. It reduces jitter and makes measurements easier to reproduce.
4How do I measure a reflex angle (360°)?
Switch to 360° mode and read the reflex value (the angle >180°). If you only see the smaller interior angle, follow the reflex tutorial to avoid reading the wrong scale.
5What can I export?
Export PNG/PDF for the annotated image and CSV/Excel/JSON for measurement data you can share or analyze.
6Do you upload my images or store my data?
No. Images and measurements stay on your device and are processed locally in your browser.
7Can I measure angles in a PDF or CAD drawing?
Yes. Take a screenshot or export the drawing to an image, then paste/upload it into the tool.
8Can I measure angles on a video?
Yes. Pause the video and take a screenshot (or extract a frame), then measure the angle like a photo.
9My reading looks wrong—what should I check?
Check perspective distortion, align a baseline to the grid, use snap for stability, and place points on clear edges. If it still looks off, see troubleshooting.
